Bella Hadid shares alarming hospital photos amid battle with disease surging among celebrities

Bella Hadid has courageously shared a post from her hospital bed on social media.

The star is affected by a condition that impacts numerous celebrities and can lead to severe long-term consequences.

Many were concerned by the images uploaded on Wednesday (17 September), as Bella looked quite ill in several photos.

"I’m sorry I always go MIA," the 28-year-old wrote in her Instagram post. "I love you guys."

In the comments, Bella's sister, Gigi Hadid, encouraged her to 'stay strong', while their mother, Yolanda Hadid, called her a 'warrior' and mentioned the illness.

Bella is among many who suffer from a condition that seems to disproportionately affect celebrities, although the exact reason is unclear.

This condition is known as Lyme disease, a bacterial infection transmitted through tick bites.

Although not all ticks carry the infection, it remains crucial to be vigilant in areas with a high risk of exposure.

These areas include wooded regions and grasslands where ticks can latch onto leaves, branches, or grass, waiting to attach to a passing mammal, such as an unaware hiker.

The saying 'burrowed in like a tick' is popular because once attached, ticks are notoriously difficult to remove safely.

Lyme disease typically does not show symptoms until several weeks or even months after a bite, with key symptoms including an oval-shaped rash near the bite and feverish feelings.

If bitten by a tick, it's essential to monitor for symptoms as early detection leads to more effective treatment.

Bella is a well-known figure with Lyme disease, joining others like Justin Timberlake, Justin Bieber, Avril Lavigne, and Miranda Hart who have confirmed their diagnosis publicly.

Some individuals diagnosed with Lyme disease may experience symptoms like fatigue, aches, and reduced energy for years after diagnosis and treatment.

Bella has spoken about how the condition has affected her life, mentioning that the 'excruciating pain' makes performing basic tasks challenging.

"It’s hard to take a shower most days, which I promise guys, if you’re reading this, I shower every day," the star told Vogue in May. "But sometimes, if I have one day off, if I can get in the shower and make myself breakfast, I see that as an accomplishment."

It's uncertain why so many famous people have Lyme disease, but one potential reason could be their heightened awareness of health conditions due to better access to healthcare.

Another possibility is that the areas where celebrities often reside, like the Hamptons, might have higher incidences of the condition.
