Colin Farrell reveals married co-star Margot Robbie 'turns him on' and it’s sparked disturbing reaction

Colin Farrell has unintentionally sparked a discussion following a rather bold remark he made about his recent co-star, Margot Robbie.

The 49-year-old actor appeared with Robbie on Late Night with Seth Meyers earlier this week, where they discussed their experience working together on their latest project.

For those not in the know, Farrell and Robbie, 35, are the leading actors in the soon-to-be-released fantasy-romance film, A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, which premieres in cinemas tomorrow (19 Sept).

The film follows two single strangers, Sarah and David, who meet at a mutual friend's wedding. They are given a chance to revisit each other's past through a series of magical doors, each revealing how they arrived at their current lives.

The feature-length film also features Kevin Kline, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Lily Rabe, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Billy Magnussen.

During Tuesday's episode, Farrell mentioned to Meyers that he had been eager to collaborate with Robbie for quite some time.

Praising the Australian beauty, the Irish actor began by saying he had heard fantastic things about her professionalism on set.

"You hear stories over the years, because, as you know, it's a pretty small industry," Farrell elaborated.

"So I've met people throughout the years who have worked with Margot - and all of them, [both men and women], have mentioned how remarkable she is."

The father-of-two further added that Robbie's dedication and work ethic 'turned' him 'on'.

"It's not just that she's an outstanding actress," Farrell continued. "But she's also incredibly kind, fun, and a team player - which is always a huge attraction for me. Absolutely!"

Robbie seemed amused by the slightly suggestive comment, and several social media users have chimed in with agreement, while also leaving some slightly unsettling remarks about the actress.

One user defended Farrell on Instagram, saying: "He's only human - give him a break." Another agreed, adding: "Water is wet."

"How could he not be?" questioned a third, while a fourth advised: "Get in line, brother."

Another praised Robbie, saying: "Well, she is a stunner. I agree with Colin."

Others, however, perceived Farrell's flirtatious comment as a strategic move to generate buzz around their new movie, where they portray love interests.

Drawing parallels to the promotional tactics used by the lead actors of The Naked Gun earlier this year, one user suggested: "Of course he'd say that. He's got a movie to promote. Has anyone heard about the Liam Neeson/Pam Anderson 'romance' lately?"

Another agreed: "The latest celebrity trend: Pretending to hook up with your co-star. It's already getting old."
