Angelina Jolie’s sad admission about daughter Shiloh that people weren’t expecting

Angelina Jolie once revealed a heartfelt insight about her daughter Shiloh that left fans quite surprised.

Discussing the career aspirations of her 19-year-old daughter, one of the six children she shares with the now-divorced couple Jolie and Brad Pitt - Maddox, 23, Zahara, 20, Pax, 21, Knox, 16, and Vivienne, 16 - the Tomb Raider actress disclosed to Jimmy Fallon that Shiloh is eager to carve her own path, distinct from her parents' fame.

During an episode of the well-known talk show that aired last year (December 5), Jolie was asked if she envisioned any of her children pursuing a life in the public eye.

"My kids - I think some of them prefer to be off-camera, more behind the scenes," she began.

The mother-of-six elaborated: "But they truly, especially Shiloh, wish for privacy. Just to be private, not photographed, not in the limelight."

"She, most of all, desires privacy."

Then, when host Jimmy noted, 'It must be difficult, with everyone being so famous', Jolie chuckled and replied, 'But it wasn't their choice.'

She continued to explain: "Some people feel more at ease with the public, some enjoy talk shows, and some do not."

This isn't the first time the Girl, Interrupted star has highlighted her children's lack of interest in the limelight.

Speaking on Good Morning America last November, Jolie expressed that motherhood brings her 'happiness', stating: "You can take everything else away from me. Nothing else matters."

She added: "At this point, none of my children want to be in front of the camera.

"They're quite private. Shiloh, in particular, is extremely private. They weren’t born with privacy, right? So I hope they can find that as they grow."

And when asked what does interest her kids, Jolie explained: "Some of them dance, some paint, some love theatre, but none are eager to be on screen."

Angelina previously mentioned to E! News about her children, emphasizing they were 'especially shy' and 'very private people'.

She told the outlet. "They prefer to remain private."

However, Jolie noted that her children are interested in working on films, even if they don’t want to star in them.

Her two oldest children, Maddox and Pax, contributed to the 2024 musical-drama Maria by assisting director Pablo Larrain.

"Mad and Pax were on this project doing AD [assistant directing] work," the Salt star shared with The Hollywood Reporter last August.

"They’ve participated in that capacity several times, and I think it’s beneficial for them. Pax tends to do stills and gets involved, and Pablo was fantastic in acknowledging his talent."

Having her sons on set with her was 'significant' for her, as the actress added: "I have never had a set where my family is not welcome because I’m concentrating—I’m not that kind of person."

She continued: "You can climb all over me or visit. It truly meant a lot that my boys were with me on Maria. When I was going through intense moments, they would come over and offer a hug or a cup of tea.

"That was one of the more intense experiences because—usually when I’m expressing deep pain, it’s not in front of my children.

"You really try to shield your children from the extent of your pain and sadness.

"And for them to witness such expressions, I believe it was the first time they ever heard me cry like that. That’s usually reserved for the shower."
